I want my kids to know they can do hard things and they can do anything! I want them to reach their full potential. I want them to enjoy life, but know that it can be hard. The hard is what makes it great.
Diving has been so good for my kids and helped them learn these life lessons. They had to trust the process and it is a SLOW process! They have been in diving lessons for three years. They did great but just jumping off the boards was a challenge for them at first. Diving into the water is scary and hard. Slowly they have pushed themselves, listened to their coaches and practiced and practiced. As you look at the photos you will see their form slowly get better and see them becoming more confident.
After three years of diving classes Jocelyn FINALLY dove off of the high dive. She told me, "last night I challenged myself to dive off the high dive and I am going to do it!" So she climbed the ladder and INCHED her way to the end of the board. She literally crawled, but she did it. She sat their for a few seconds and turned to look at me. She smiled and away she went! These are the moments that make me the happiest. To see my kids conquer their fears, push their limits and do hard things. SO PROUD!!
Kyler is a very competitive kid. Don't know where he gets it. Haha! (My husband and I are pretty ridiculous). After every dive he would say something that he needed to work on like, "this time I am going to keep my legs straight." He is all heart, all the time with everything he does. My favorite quote from him while diving was, "WAHOOO, YA, I FEEL SO ALIVE!" I am so glad you feel alive, buddy.
It may seem like just diving to them but they are learning SO many life lessons. I hope they will remember these lessons because these are the things that will help them be successful adults. There is no way to cheat the grind, you have to trust the process, trust that your hard work will pay off and put in the time. I know that as they learn these skills they will be able to apply them to every aspect of their lives and meet the many challenges of life head-on.
I can't wait to see what the next year of diving camp will bring for these two!
